Roy Davis here, the Creative Director who brought you the blog post, “Accidentally Finding a Ghost Story While Writing a Ghost Story.” (And who was disparaged last week!) [[Marketing: Nothing but the truth!]]
Today was another long day at the office, but at the end we were rewarded by getting most of the lights working. I could finally see a hint of the room’s eventual appearance. Now, I know this is going to sound like I’m just shilling for my business, but Midnight on the Bayou took my breath away. It looks like a darned amusement park!
I’ve been strictly ordered to not share pictures of the room unless they’re approved; partly to prevent accidentally giving out clues, but mostly due to marketing’s well-orchestrated, slow reveal of the build which we’re pretending happened on a much shorter and exciting timeline then it actually did. [[Marketing: Well, gee, you gave it all away!]]
In other words, I can’t show you what I saw; what got me so excited. But I figure it can’t do any harm to post couple photos with the lights out. Right?
The above is a view from the deck area facing the entrance. You can see the labor-intensive deck railing in the foreground, and “South House” to the right. (The ride side of the warehouse being the south side.) If you squint you can just make out the globe lights crisscrossing the room at balcony level. Straight ahead is the hallway to reception. And in the right hand corner is the magician table.
And here is a picture from the front of the room toward the back. An unfinished tree lies in the foreground. There’s a to-be-mounted trellis to the right in front of some carnival games. You can make out a bit of the clock tower sans clock toward the back. And the creepy guy reflected in black-out window would be yours truly.
Hopefully these pictures successfully hint at what is to come. I promise more will be revealed in the next blog. And if you don’t hear from me again, that means head of marketing killed me and hid the body very well. [[Marketing: I just need to figure out how to change your passwords…]]
