Notice anything unusual about this house? The first floor is 4 ft. by 8 ft. siding, but the top walls are simply white paint over drywall. To the left are our newly-installed hunter green shutters.
The Louisiana Bayou is known for its rich history. Its Colonial architecture. Its paint-destroying humidity…
The second story needed to be ‘aged’ ASAP. You can’t walk into a bayou and see a brand new house. That is where Allyson, our talented painter from Wall Art by Allyson came to the rescue. She used pattered rollers to create the look of wood grain. And she painted on a forced-perspective door (think Universal Studios back lot) that looks like the real thing.
You can see the blue painters tape creating strips where she blended different paint colors to create a darker, aged look. Absolutely beautiful work. Wait until you see what else she did in the room!
Do you want more photos? We have the north house completed with mint walls and brown shutters. Ignore that painters tape up there. We can’t wait to add the flower baskets underneath the windows! Even though it’s camouflaged, with all the lights on you can clearly see the conduit that allows the game’s multi-computer “brain” to communicate with the rest of the room. (Ignore the open junction box.)
Our east side house got a fresh coat of red paint and looks pretty snazzy. It’s also getting real plaster walls.
Take a look at the long view. Gosh, that “office door” looks pretty hideous. It’s also much too tall. However will we hide it? Stay tuned to find out. Gotta go!
Next up, we had some bizarre weather here in Southern California.
